This paddle started with a simple idea: what if we could bring a piece of home to the court?

The Philippine Flag Paddle is our tribute to Filipino craftsmanship, Filipino pride, and the growing pickleball community here in Cebu. Made from mahogany wood in our family workshop in Compostela, Cebu, each paddle is shaped, sanded, textured, painted, and finished by hand.

It carries the colors of the Philippine flag, but we wanted it to feel more than decorative. We wanted it to feel like a paddle with a story behind it.

For us, Wagas Picklewood is not just about making something different. It is about showing what Filipino artisans can create in a sport that is growing quickly around the world. Long before today’s carbon and plastic paddles, wooden paddles helped bring pickleball to life. This is our way of honoring that history while adding a Cebuano hand to it.

The paddle features our laser engraved honeycomb texture, inspired by the rougher paddle faces players look for, while keeping the warmth and character of wood.

CRAFTING PROCESS

Each Wagas Picklewood Paddle begins as mahogany wood in our family workshop. The paddle is shaped, sanded, laser engraved with our honeycomb texture, finished, and checked by hand before it leaves the workshop.

Because every piece is handmade, small differences in grain, color, texture, and finish may appear. We see these details as part of the character of a wooden paddle.

WHY WAGAS PICKLEWOOD?

Before carbon fiber and modern paddle materials, pickleball began with wood.

Wagas Picklewood is our way of honoring that beginning while bringing our own workshop’s story into the game. Each paddle is handmade in Compostela, Cebu by Filipino artisans who have worked with wood for years, shaped with care, and tested with players from Cebu’s growing pickleball community.

It is not trying to be the most high tech paddle on the court. It is made for those who want something different from the rest. A paddle with history, character, and the warmth of something made by hand.
